The Story Behind Golden Years Balm
Golden Years Balm is a massage balm for senior dogs, made for gentle body care. It is not a pain medication and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent arthritis, joint disease or any other condition.
Benji is our chocolate Labrador, and he’s about to turn 11. Like a lot of senior dogs, he’s started to show the occasional stiffness and slower mornings that come with age.
Rather than let those moments pass unnoticed, we built a simple massage ritual into his routine, a few gentle minutes to check in, stay connected and give him something comforting to look forward to. Golden Years Balm grew directly out of that ritual, made to be smooth enough for easy glide and gentle enough for daily hands-on care.
Benji’s story is personal, and every senior dog ages differently.
A Ritual of Attention
Senior dogs often communicate through subtle changes. A regular, gentle massage routine can help pet parents notice new sensitivity, swelling, skin changes or reluctance to be touched. New pain, limping, weakness, swelling or changes in movement should be evaluated by a veterinarian.
A massage balm for senior dogs can make that routine smoother, but it does not replace regular veterinary checkups. Learn more about caring for senior dogs from the AVMA, explore all our natural dog balms, or take our Free Dog Health Score.

How to use
Warm a small amount between your fingers. Apply a thin layer and massage gently with slow, light circular motions. Stop if your dog pulls away, guards the area, or shows discomfort. Do not massage an area that is hot, swollen, injured, or painful. Do not apply to open wounds or broken skin. Prevent your dog from licking the area right after application.
Contact your veterinarian about new pain, limping, weakness, swelling, or changes in movement.
